5 Stars excellent bluray release for a classic tv series
After buying the seasons 1-3 on dvd a lot of the extra content is very much the same however the big time winner for the bluray release is the “tastefuly” done special effects (thank god no star wars jabba mistakes) and also you can elect watch every episode with the original effects for any purests fans.
The next best thing is the wonder video transfer done , its probably the best overall transfer I’ve ever seen and a true benchmark for bluray technology. Another huge positive mark is the DTS-HDMA 7.1 soundtrack , crystel clear and wonderful however due to series being recorded in mono its nearly all coming out the center channel.
In final this the best season of star trek shown in the best format for one of the most classical series in TV history, if you even remotely are a fan pick this up without question.
5 Stars Star Trek OS looks great in Blu Ray
A definite must have for the Star Trek fan.
Blu Ray makes it look great on my Samsung 52 inch LCD.
5 Stars As no man has seen before
I’m a great fan and I must say I never thought it would get such a fantastic treatment. The blu-ray edition is just great.
5 Stars Wow!
I was at 1st a little leery about buying this set as I already have it on DVD. Now that I have it all I can say is WOW! I realy enjoy being able to switch back and forth between the original and the enhanced versions. While the picture quality was realy cleaned up vs the DVD version, the audio and special effects enhancements realy add to my viewing pleasure. For those worried that they would realy fubar everything there realy was no need to worry.
If there is a negative in this set it would have to be the way the menus are setup, I think they realy could have been don e a lot better. However this didnt distract me very long.
Now my only remaining concern is trying to sell my Star Trek Original season 1-3 sets.
4 Stars Seriously glorious… with two exceptions.
Everything about this set is fantastic, except that for some reason the episodes “Amok Time”, and “The Trouble With Tribbles” (both enhanced and original versions) won’t play on my machine. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the discs or with my player, as I haven’t tried to play them on a different one. But all other episodes from the Season 2 set play fine… as well as those on both Season 1 and Season 3 sets, so I’m inclined to think it’s a problem with the discs.
